Business Licenses & Direct Sales:
The Town of Lumsden does not issue Business Licenses.
Door-to-door or “direct sales” are regulated in Saskatchewan by The Direct Sellers Act, and The Direct Sellers Regulations. Enforcement of those acts is the responsibility of the Consumer Protection Division of the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan (FCAA). The FCAA regulates products and service providers, including the protection of consumer interests, handling complaints and enforcement of various provincial statues.
Direct Sellers are required to obtain a license through the Consumer Protection Division of the FCAA, it is an offence not to obtain a license prior to engaging in Direct Sales.
While most Direct Sellers obtain proper licenses, some do not. If you encounter a Direct Seller without a license, or that may be aggressive or inappropriate in their sales approach, please file a complaint at www.fcaa.gov.sk.ca. You can also apply for a Direct Sellers license, check to see if a Direct Seller has their appropriate license, or file questions or inquiries at www.fcaa.gov.sk.ca.
