Candidate Information (Information will be added upon receipt) :

Rhonda Phillips

I am running for council because I have the incentive, experience, expertise and time to help our community.  My husband Dave and I have lived in Lumsden, in the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley for 39 years.  We raised our children here and are so delighted to see many of their childhood friends return.

I have been on Lumsden Town Council for 15 years developing an understanding of municipal governance and experience from committee assignments and projects.  I was involved from concept to completion in the sewage treatment project.  With federal financial assistance we installed solar panels.  Emergency measures exposure reinforced the importance of flood protection in Lumsden.  I have had the drinking water portfolio for 12 years including review of treatment quality each month.  As chair of planning and economic development I have enjoyed the opportunity to hear from other councillors, discuss and imagine plans for this beautiful, walkable, sustainable and friendly place. I am dedicated to keeping Lumsden’s designation as the most sustainable community in the province.

My university background in ecology, geology, education and environmental science is the foundation on which I have built understandings of: sewage treatment, drinking water treatment, solar power, flood protection, environmentally protected areas and planning.  There is much more to council.  I am a retired teacher, so I have time for council work from research to decision making.  I take all responsibilities very seriously.

I hope you will vote for me so I can continue my work on council, on your behalf.

Trevor Haubrich

My name is Trevor Haubrich, my spouse and I moved to Lumsden 10 years ago. I grew up in a small community in southwest Saskatchewan and lived in Regina for many years. Wanting to move back to my roots and a small town we chose Lumsden to start a family, our children are currently 7 and 5 years old.

As your councillor I would work to ensure Lumsden maintains that community feel that drew us here and will keep us here for years to come. We have some amazing opportunities to enhance our recreation facilities and continue to provide activities in our own backyard.  Providing options for our youth, adults, families and seniors allows those dollars to stay in our community and enhance our quality of life. My involvement in the Lumsden Aquatic Facility Committee showed me what we can accomplish with the committed and talented individuals willing to get involved in community initiatives. I see that same pride in every event Lumsden puts on.

I believe in engagement and transparency in my professional life and will work to ensure the community members are informed on issues that impact them.

As exciting as the opportunities are, there are challenges that communities face with rising costs, aging infrastructure, growth, balancing services and value add activities. I want to ensure your tax dollars are spent wisely, balancing needs and realizing opportunities.

I am excited to see what we can accomplish together. Thank you for your consideration for allowing me to represent you.

Lesia Matheson

As many of you know, I have lived in Lumsden most of my life. I have had the privilege to grow up here, to own a business here, and to create life-long friendships here. I currently work as an operations manager for aviation security and enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and pets in our beautiful valley.

I am fully invested in our town thriving. It is my goal to contribute to an evolving community and I promise to bring a perspective of sound reason, sustainable development, and curated growth. Lumsden is a place of beauty and charm, and I will use my skills developed throughout my career in leadership and management to foster the continuation and enhancement of what we love about our town.

My priority as a councillor will be to actively listen to all perspectives and openly communicate with the residents of Lumsden.  I will be dedicated in my cooperation with the other councillors and mayor to make decisions that will create a vibrant and safe community for young and old for years to come. I pledge to be thoughtful, accountable and consistent in my commitment to council and work to provide excellent recreation facilities, business opportunities and infrastructure.

If chosen as a member of town council, I will provide a fresh viewpoint and dedicated service to our community.  Thank you for your consideration.

Anne Gibbons

I am honored to announce my candidacy for Lumsden Town Council.

Town Council has the very important job of shaping Lumsden’s future, ensuring the town’s infrastructure is well maintained and that we have a solid plan for growth. However, it is also important that we understand its role in strengthening social ties and creating opportunities and spaces for our community to grow closer. Our home is more than a roof over our head, and our town is more than where our house is built.

I am seeking the opportunity to serve on the Lumsden Town Council because I have skills and perspective to contribute to strengthening our community. I am married and have three children, two attending Lumsden Elementary School and one enrolled in Open View Preschool. I studied tourism management and regional identity at Thompson Rivers University before working for Tourism Saskatchewan. I also understand the challenges and concerns of small business owners, as my husband and I built and continue to grow our company, Prairie Asbestos, together. I have volunteered in our community at the Lumsden Library, Lumsden Soccer, and Lumsden Elementary School and assisted in the organization of the town’s Recreation Registration and Information Night.

I ask for your trust and support to elect me as your voice on Lumsden Town Council for the next four years. It is my wish that as our town grows in size, we actively work to preserve the charm and the heart of the community that we have all fallen in love with.

Adam Tropin

Hello, my name is Adam Tropin and I am running to be one of your councillors.  My wife Aimee and I moved to Lumsden 9 years ago with the dream of starting a family.  I grew up in small town Saskatchewan and after living in Regina for several years we knew a smaller close-knit community is what we wanted to raise our children in.  We now have a 5 and an 8-year-old who enjoy all this town has to offer.

I have a passion for this community and believe I would make a great addition to council.  I have helped coach soccer, hockey, baseball, and football.  I play in the men's slow pitch league and have been a member of the Lumsden Curling Club.  I am also a member of the Lumsden Aquatic Facility Committee as well as the group looking to bring a Bicycle Pump Track to Lumsden.

I believe my professional life would be an asset to town council.  I manage the Information Technology department at the RCMP Training Academy.  As well I am the chair of the program advisory committee for Computer Engineering Technology at Sask Polytechnic.  I have organized, lead and participated in many different meetings, have project management experience, and financial experience managing large budgets.

Lumsden is a vibrant and beautiful community.  The town will continue to grow; however, I want to ensure Lumsden never loses its charm.  It's this charm and small town feeling that has attracted me and so many other young families to Lumsden, as well as kept the long-term residents here.  I never want Lumsden to feel like a suburb or the city, I want it to feel like a community, like home.

Wes Holobetz

I am excited to be running for Town Council again.   My wife and I, along with our three children Allie, Dan and Anika, moved to Lumsden in 2002.  We love living in Lumsden and watching our four grandchildren enjoy this beautiful community.

Lumsden has maintained its quiet lifestyle and friendly culture throughout the decades that we have lived here.  I was fortunate to serve two terms on Lumsden’s Town Council, and during that time saw the progress that a collaborative team can achieve. While many initiatives were completed for the community, we remained fiscally responsible and balanced in our approach.  I enjoy hearing from community members and the many ideas that contribute to the town’s vision.

I am retired now after 34 years at the Co-Op Refinery and enjoy working on home renovations and landscaping now in my next chapter.  I would enjoy being part of the council that continues to help Lumsden grow in a sustainable way through the many opportunities and some challenges ahead.

Byron Tumbach

For the past two municipal terms, I have had the privilege of serving as a member of Lumsden Town Council. My wife, Laurel, and I moved to this wonderful community 12 years ago, where we have raised our children, Carson and Morgan.

Beyond my role as your elected municipal representative, I serve as the Treasurer of St. Peter’s Church and am proud to be a Board Member of the Lumsden and District Heritage Home. Professionally, I am an experienced financial leader with a proven track record of delivering results. I have a strong commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards, particularly in government and non-profit organizations.

When I first ran for council, I emphasized that our responsibility to the community extends far beyond our own property lines. I deeply believe in the importance of giving back to the town. Throughout my time on council, I have been actively involved in both the Finance and Audit Committee and the Planning and Development Committee. In these roles, I have worked diligently to be a responsible steward of our town’s resources.

I understand the complexities involved in managing a vibrant and growing community. As your elected representative, I have always prioritized transparency and accountability, and I have advocated for the allocation of appropriate resources to ensure the town’s fiscal health. I remain committed to being fiscally responsible and using my expertise to hold both council and staff accountable.

Lumsden is entering a critical period of development, and the decisions we make now will shape the future of our town. I am dedicated to ensuring that these decisions are made thoughtfully and in the best interest of our community. I would be honored to continue serving you and hope I can count on your support this November.

Ryan Schindelka

My name is Ryan Schindelka. I have lived in Lumsden for over 13 years, having built our family home here to raise my son Matthew, 17, and daughter Meghan, 14.

I am fortunate to be born and raised in Saskatchewan, having obtained a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, and then spending my professional career over the past 23 years, managing major construction projects throughout the province, including being the Design Manager for the New Mosaic Stadium in Regina.

We chose to live in Lumsden due to its natural beauty, local business, and active volunteer organizations and are so thankful, as the people of Lumsden truly make this a great place to live. I believe in volunteering and giving back to the community; currently engaged as VP/Secretary of the Lumsden Sports Association (Lumsden Rink) and previously as Board Chair of the Ignite Adult Learning Centre in Regina.

I recognize that Lumsden must grow to increase its tax base due to recent infrastructure upgrades and desired community improvements.  I feel it is critical we preserve Lumsden’s small town culture throughout this growth.  My priorities include:

  1. Long-term community vision and planning.
  2. Fiscal responsibility and efficient use of resources.
  3. Recognition / support of local businesses and community organizations.
  4. Community engagement and transparency.
  5. Firm but fair partnerships with third-party developers, consultants and contractors.

On November 13, I humbly ask for your vote to represent you and our community.
